Here's the birthday girl! She looks very fetching surrounded by "petals!" I hope I got her age right. Petals wants you to know she loves her bone, she misses you very much, and what are you bringing her from South Africa. Her beard is a sight! :(

The Joy of January
It's still snowing and windy here in Rhode Island. Though we're not getting huge amounts of snow, the wind is freezing. This makes it a lot of fun when I take Petals out at night to pee. Getting Petals down to the business of peeing can take some time. She runs around, then she stares at a neighbor's house, then she scratches the left side of her face, closely followed by scratching the right side of her face. She also has to smell every inch of the yard, as if a troup of dogs traveled through while she wasn't looking. By this time I say, " Hurry up! I can't feel my toes! " She finally pees, so we can go inside where I give her a cookie. I tell you, it it gets any windier, Petals will fly away like Krypto the Superdog!
I found the front door key. It was on the floor by the sofa. SOMEBODY must have been fooling around with it. I have no idea who that SOMEBODY could have been!
This is what it feels like! :D I'll take some more pictures soon of Petals if she'll hold still long enough.

Petals in the Snow
Hi Karen and Michael,
As you can see, it snowed again. Petals just loves the snow. After running around and around the yard, she spins in tight little circles around me.
The roads in Providence were VERY slippery yesterday. According to one radio station, there were 75 accidents in the city by midafternoon. It was blamed on Providence's failure to pretreat the roads properly. See what you're missing! Actually, we only got about two inches of the stuff.
I hope you had a fun New Years in South Africa. One of your neighbors must of gotten carried away, since the fire department showed up last night with flashing lights. They didn't stay very long. I'm glad they didn't knock on the front door, as I don't know were the key is. Though usually placed on the small table by the door, it's not there this time.
Petals is being an excellent girl. She's probably learning all kinds of bad habits though. By the time you get home, she'll be drinking beer, smoking cigars, and playing poker with the boys. Ha! Ha! Your new trainer will be cross.
Here's the boys. Petals isn't there as she's gone out to get the beer.

Update on Miss Petals
Hi Karen and Michael,
Here's a picture of Petals for you. She once again had something stuck in her beard. She always has something stuck in her beard!
She's doing fine. Petals was quite happy when I arrived with my suitcase yesterday, wagging her little tail and looking pleased. She was also happy when I got out of bed this morning. I said, "I know I'm finally out of bed, but it's not THAT much of a miracle!" :)
We took a nice, but cold, walk this morning and she did what she had to do. So far, it hasn't snowed anymore here. I'll drain the gunky furnace water in another day or two. Since I had to restart a client's furnace today, I'm becoming an expert on heating units.
I'll be sure to give Petals her birthday bone in January.
Hope you're having a good time.
The Great Guppy Massacre
All your pets are fine. Your home was freezing though, so I went to the basement and added some more water to the furnace's tube. The heat's back on again. :)
In other news, Bella seems to have eaten ALL the guppies. They were there yesterday, then boom, they're gone. He must have a huge stomach ache now! That was a lot of guppies he gobbled up.
